tradesmen not turning up
Comments

Common courtesy has seemed to have gone out of the window! Not to turn is rude and bad practice. The only plus side is I wouldn't want them doing the work if they cant be bothered to turn up.0

Just remember that good tradesmen have no need to work for bad customers0

You've probably just been unlucky; I know 2 roofers near me and they are good as gold and have never let me down. On the other hand I have passed business on to a plumber and glazier I've used and neither contacted the customer so won't be recommending them again!
It's the vagaries of people I'm afraid!0 -

And he can tell that by 1 enquiry call from a customer???
:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

.......and where did I say that?
Although, thinking about it, have you never made judgements (right or otherwise) about someone within a few seconds of speaking to them?0 -

You didn't say that, you answered with the comment that inferred that the builder had made a decision not to call on the customer presumably due to the call placed??, he had no idea if they were a bad customer or otherwise.
It's not important, if that decision was made it's the same discourteous behavior isn't it?, forget the reason if there is one, a simple "NO, I can't quote" would be more appropriate.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I can assure you that for every tradesman who doesn't turn up, there are as many if not more homeowners who don't have the courtesy to thank all the businesses they asked for a free quote.
This is a fair point.0 -

The trick is to get in a position where a tradesman is happy to reply within a few hours of an enquiry and give folks their undivided attention, because they might actually get the work at a price that will keep them in business, and at the same time, homeowners need to be a bit more discriminating about who they ask and how many free quotes they want.
That's an unfair comment and judgement of any customer, do you honestly think it is correct for anyone to ring back to say "sorry, you are too expensive"???, it doesn't work that way does it.
You cannot expect a reply, for the simple reason that 90% of us and you don't see a need to do so.
Quoting for work is totally different.
And I have to ask what is the trick that gets someone to turn up?;)I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

I wonder if there are any female roofers?.........
Bit of a sexist statement isn't it?
I suspect if I did a post saying I doubt there are many female roofers because women are often not good at working at heights or care too much about their nail polish then some overly sensitive little flower would report it whilst completely missing the point that was an ironical tongue in cheek response to an untrue/sexist stereotype aimed at men.0
