Changing Broadband providers Is speed the same

I am looking at changing my broadband provider. Am I right in assuming that similarly to electric in gas, no matter who you are with the quality, line speed and reliability should remain the same? I am with MAAF and looking at changing to either EE or O2

It's much the same what ever provider you go for.

Only difference is if you are going from a Non-LLU ISP to a LLU isp. then you might get a slightly faster speed since they can tweak the your exchange for a better speed.

Put your details in here to see if O2 / EE are LLU enabled:

Excellent post. I work for an ISP now and we often get calls for this. We assist where we can, sometimes we can't though. It's important for consumers to know that, sometimes, you just don't get the same speed as your neighbour!

Your speed is whatever the best speed the equipment can negotiate that provides stability with your line. Throughput...well thats a different matter.
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

EE would be mobile bb. Orange sold their bb to BT a year or two back.

Probably stating the obvious here but if you are after a significant increase in speed then optic fibre is the way to go if it is available in your area.

Otherwise IMHO not a lot to choose between any of the ISPs in terms of speed.

Contention is generally more of a problem than raw speed-and that certainly does vary from provider to provider. I'm on an 02 LLU service, and for me the best aspect is that I get a rock-solid 8MBps at almost any time of day.
I'd rather have that than 10MBps at 6am and then 3MBps all evening.

No this is home BB, In the Top 10 of U switch best buys list and BB Choices. The deals on both O2 and EE are very good, my original thought was would the quality of signal etc change with the different providers. When you change Utility providers nothing from a physical sense changes ie same gas same pipes, electricity same cables, it's just the organisation you pay your bills to is different. Can the same be said of Home BB? I'm guessing same BT lines are used, and same exchanges.
    O2 are LLU enabled.
I guess my main reason for looking to change is I am only allowed 5GB per month under my current contract, if I upgraded, it would be to 20gb which is far more than I would need. I seem to go over my allowance by about 1gb
