Lloyds TSB sent RS payments too early

Although I set up my own RS payments to go out on 1st June, they have already gone through today 31st May, which means 2 payments in a month. Anyone else discovered the same has happened to them?

1st is Tomorrow, which isn't a working day so they have actioned the payment today instead, which also happens to be the closest, as otherwise your looking at the 3rd.

If you don't want a payment being made twice in one month, have you tried something like the 10th or 15th ?

On your statement, does it show today's date? Many banks will send payments at the close of the previous working day, but they will still have the correct date on them.

It says 31st May on the statement. Having spent 45 mins on the phone, they could see when I set up the payment and could also see that I put it for the 1st June on all 6 accounts, so Customer Complaints Dept will further investigate and get back to me, as it looks like a system error, but mine is the first they have encountered today. By which time all the Building Societies closed at 5 p.m today. and only a few are open on Sat for me to ring and explain and hope they will not penalise me. Time will tell. I do now have a Customer Reference No. for what is deemed a "serious" complaint.

I've always set up my payments to go out on the 1st and not had this problem before in the last 6-8 years. It seems to have defaulted somehow to the day before the 1st, without notifying me, as obviously I wouldn't knowingly set up 6 payments to all go out on the wrong day. Of course, the safest thing I guess is just to set up Standing Orders instead but to remember which is the 12th payment.
