Do I need to update Insurance?

Options
Hi

I've got an insurance policy with diamond and it has me as a home keeper and my partner as a sales assistant.

I've recently started working and he's been job searching and it's looking likely/promising that he is about to get a job as a warehouse operative.

My questions are; Do I have to inform them now that our job titles have/will be changing? and also I currently pay £132 a month, is it likely to make it much higher?

Thanks in advance

    Yes

Your occupations are material and you run the risk of having any claims rejected if they are unaware that you have both changed.

Do some dummy quotes online to see what difference it makes to the premium, though most will charge an administration fee on top for changes mid term.

It might actually go down, if your working you will have less time to go out driving at busy periods, parking in supermarket car parks so it might be less of a risk. Might be best to wait and see if he gets the job otherwise you could have two lots of admin fees to pay .

Tell them asap about your new job title and only tell them when your OH is actually working.

    Is this Motor or Home?

You will need to inform them, some insurers will want to know at the time of the change and others will want to know only at renewal. It would be beneficial if you could tell them about both job changes at the same time to avoid paying 2 administration fees if they do want to know but evidently there is an element of risk involved in that.

I dont know Diamond's pricing structure but sales->warehouse I would be surprised if it made any difference. For Housewife->employee is more difficult as you dont say what your job is now but for motor if anything I'd suspect it to go down. For Home it may go up as the house is less occupied now. Any reduction is likely to be wiped out by admin fees though.

Didn't spot that but we've had people quoting similar premiums before for standard risk home (and obviously MNW and HNW can easily exceed it but Diamond dont write either)
