my sister recieved a letter today saying 'Energy Online January 2014' tariff with Npower is going to rise by 9.9%
can she reject the price increase and move to another company ('Energy Online January 2014' tariff as a cancelation for both gas n elec of £30 each if you leave before jan 14) free of charge without incuring the charges?
if so what is the best way to do this, by just moving online and let other provider take over , or does she need to ring to tell them shes leaving due to the increase and get confirmation over the phone that she can leave penalty free due to the increases coming in july?

Hi
We have been discussing the very same thing here....https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/46073390 -
Yes, as long as you let them know that you're unhappy about the price increase and intend to leave.
By increasing prices mid term they have voided the original terms of the contract they have with you.
It's ofgem rules I think.I am a moneysaver0 -
She'll lose the valuable DD discount if she leaves mid year.0

But the OP knows that, having posted there offering possible advice.
Still, always nice to read yet another new thread on an existing topic ... :cool:0 -
