All I want is surf the net wirelessly. But I keep hearing bad things about Vista home basic and I keep reading people saying you a need dual core processer. does that really matter for what I'm using it for?
Pete.

Thanks for that Zagu my finger is hovering over the "buy" button and just wanted to know I was doing the right thing. Didn't want to hang around too long either as I know how fast these things become "out of stock".
Just one more thing can you get spare batteries for these so as to change while out and about?I'll get me coat!0 -
you can buy spare batteries from many places so yes, most tosh laptops have user removable batteries so you can change them.
I just hope you have deep pockets your proberbly looking at best part of £100 for a 2nd battery.0 -
I had a look, and its expensive. What put me off was that there isnt a seperate charger, unless you pay something like £170, so you cant charge up a second battery somewhere while you are using battery power. Given that the charger was that much, and the battery was about £70ish, I gave that idea a miss. Actually, probably my only criticism is the battery life, at about 1 hour 20, but its a small mains transformer so easy to run from mains if need be. A friend has an old P3 laptop, and gets 6 hours battery life! It might be worth getting a bag at the same time."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0

Just ordered and oh about the battery at £100 I'm not that desperate!
Still for £300 although I'm not very technologically minded I think it's a decent price.
Thanks,

I suppose I could always charge it off the car battery if I'm out for the night.
Thanks guys.I'll get me coat!0 -
buy a mains inverter for the car, loads of places sell them they convert the 12v accessory socket to a 3 pin mains plug. I use my laptop on one as the battery is goosed.0
