My Eon tariff is the cheapest in the country according to SP

I am on Eon warm assist tariff and am quite happy with Eon.
I've just had a call from Scottish Power, I thought that was all stopped, and he asked the usual questions about my energy supplier.
I told him that he was wasting his time and he could not beat my tariff but if he wanted to waste his time to go ahead.
I'm retired and waiting to go on my next holiday so have all the time in the world.
So he did, asked my usage and I told him, asked what my tariff was and I told him, are you sure that is what your tariff is? he kept asking.
That is what is on the letter Eon sent me and what I am going to be paying from the 3rd June I told him.
He eventually agreed with me and said that was the cheapest tariff he had come across and promptly hung up.
Why do people never believe me?:D
Same with PPI callers, they cannot believe I have never paid a penny in PPI.

Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:

Here's one to get your teeth into Millie.
Last month the Eon rep (Helena) said that warm assist was charged at a 20% discount to their standard tariff (and no other discounts apply)

I think the Eon standard (Energyplan) tariff (inc VAT) for the Scottish Hydro supply region is:
Electricity
Standing Charge £0.2739 per day
Unit Rate £0.14018 per kWh
Gas
Standing Charge £0.2739 per day
Unit Rate £0.04334 per kWh
I calculate this as almost 27% discount.0 -

First 900 kWh = 18.7p
Rest = 10.1p
Equivalent to a standing charge of 21.2p/day plus unit price of 10.1p/kWh. Plus a £10/year discount.NowRetired wrote: »Same with PPI callers, they cannot believe I have never paid a penny in PPI.
My solution when moving was to get a brand new phone number and not plug any phones in. I do have one just in case I need to call an 0845/0870 number (free during weekends & evenings) but with saynoto0870 this only happens maybe once a year.0 -
I was asked a similar thing when I moved to my new flat and said I'd be changing electricity suppliers immediately. The existing supplier acted shocked, asking how I could possibly know whether anyone else would be cheaper. I read out the unit prices I could get from my old tariff and he immediately conceded they couldn't beat them.

.
Is that still available to new applicants?
If so, then it sounds like the OP maybe isn't on the cheapest tariff. Maybe you could post more details?
If not available to new applicants, then I don't know why you are comparing to this historical tariff; you can't usually take a tariff with you when you move home.0 -

No.
I asked to take it with me, pointing out that there was nothing in the T&Cs preventing a home move, and they agreed.
You won't find any energy supplier's terms that prevent you from moving home, but most do not allow you to take an existing tariff with you.
When you get yourself a new home, you must first sign up with the existing supplier (so you've about a 1 in 20 chance of that being your previous supplier).
Despite this, I think one of the suppliers on here said they would allow this, but it's not the norm throughout the industry.0 -
Who was the supplier?
