Multiple Credit Cards

I have had an MBNA credit card for @ 12 years, and when I originally applied for it, I ticked the box for PPI. As each card has expired and being renewed with a different number, the PPI has simply carried on to the new card. MBNA wrote to me last week suggesting that I may be able to reclaim PPI, but the start date stated is 2009 which is the start date of the latest card. If the PPI has been mis-sold and is reclaimable, it was mis-sold when I took out the original card - can I therefore reclaim the PPI from the original card, and how do I do it? The policy covering it has not changed (as far as I'm aware) - do I have to send separate complaints for each card even though they have only changed numbers as they'be expired and been renewed.
I have exactly the same situation with my Tesco credit card, and a couple of others.

By your own words, you confirm you ticked the box for PPI, so why do you think you were originally mis-sold anything?
