Buyer Doesn't Answer - collection

I sold two large items on eBay a few weeks ago. The buyer paid by PayPal although I did ask for cash in collection, but I know eBay are funny about collection auctions. I put on the auction to collect within five days.

Anyway to cut a long story short, the buyer come to collect but could only fit one of the items in their car so said they would come back later that day. They never came back! I rang the buyer a few times, no answer. I sent a text, no reply. I sent a eBay message a week later and they replied they would come in the morning. Guess what, no show! This is now over a week ago, so I'm unsure what to do?

Shall I just refund them for one of the items and let things be? Although I don't want them charging back the other?

They're going to charge back both items whether you like it or not - You've fallen for the "PayPal and Collection" scam.

Wow. Can I have tomorrows lottery numbers as well please?

How can you possibly ascertain that from the OP? Yes, it happens, but I imagine there are also hundreds of transactions where it doesn't happen.

I think its too soon to start scaremongering the OP.

When you say 'a few weeks', how long is it exactly since the sale?

If it's been more than 45 days, you're probably alright to get rid of the other item, as the buyer only has 45 days to raise any claim for non-receipt, and it sounds like you've done everything you can to get in touch with them.

Send them a final request giving them a timescale within which to collect or you will dispose of the item as you see fit and refund them for it (assuming it's too late for them to raise a chargeback for both, that is).

The items were sold on 14 and 16th May, so no quite 45 days yet.

Looking at their feedback, they have done the same with a few people!!

The items were really low cost (99p and £15) but it's annoying as I want rid of it!

I have sent a email saying they need to pick up by Saturday as otherwise the scrap men are getting it lol
