The Range... Lamp broken!

2 or 3 weeks ago, My OH bought me a blossom tree lamp, which I love. Tonight, I plugged it in whilst sat watching TV as usual, and whilst watching tv I noticed the light had badly dimmed, its gone really dim and is giving off like a flickering effect.
The problem I have is, I don't have the receipt. Has anyone had any prior dealings with the range without a receipt?
Will they exchange it?
EDIT: It's just gone out completely.
Thanks,
Joe.

you dont need a receipt
you do (realistically) need some proof of purchase however.0 -
I have my OH bank statement, but I think we bought more than just the lamp, sure we bought paint and a roller too!! will that suffice?Any views are my own and may not always be correct - though i do try0

Have you checked the bulb is/bulbs are properly fitted?
If it is plugged into the mains have you checked that there are no loose wires?
I would check (or get someone else to check) both of these before I traipsed back to the store with it.
If the bank statement shows a purchase at the Range and you can remember the other items you bought (they can work out the total;)) then that should suffice.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

I'd say it will be fine, as long as its just an exchange/replacement you wanted.0

Thanks for your help!! Yeah I've checked the bulbs! Its a tree lamp so the bulb side of it is tricky, however, there are no loose wires ! I don't know whats happened, all of a sudden it just went blank!!Any views are my own and may not always be correct - though i do try0

Just take it back with your statement and be nice to customer service, they can test it and replace it for you.
Some shops try to fob you of with the no receipt thingy, but it is possible (albeit a pita) to go into the system via the date and time a print out a receipt of your transaction.
I may be wrong but as long as it's broken I believe it's the shops duty to replace it - unless you could have bought it elsewhere.

Not all stores can re print receipts. I've been a retail manager for 15 years and worked in a few places that can't. However I do know when it comes to electrical items in a non specialist store, like the range, it's not worth refusing due to legal implications and they should be happy to exchange it.0
