Hmm - buy some greaseproof paper, and lay it over the top of the wax, and then lightly run over a cool iron?
Make sure the iron is cool so you don't burn the carpet.

This is a different method, but it will probably be more effective than mine.Errors of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it. - Jefferson0 -
Alternate to greaseproof paper, you could use blotting paper with a cool iron. Be sure to keep moving the paper around to avoid spreading the wax.0

I tried the greaseproof paper and iron thing a couple of years ago - cheap carpet melted!0

I use paper towel and iron set to warm not on steam. good luck!0

I use an old towel & iron over where the wax has spilt. The best of using an old towel is there is less likelihood of over-running the edges & burning the carpet as say when you use kitchen towel. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0 -
Be careful with the iron - we melted our carpet!!0

I think if you put ice on it and then pick the wax off. hope it works.0
