Switching - why is my tariff not available to select?
Options
Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone else has been in this situation and what you did about it...
I'm trying to do a comparison of all electricity only tariffs as I know that I am currently paying too much and want to find the best deal for my usage. However, none of the switching sites I have been to (uswitch, energy helpline, energylinx, MSE cheap energy club, Compare the Market) have my current tariff available to select in the drop down menu.
I have my bill in front of me (all of them in fact) and my tariff has never changed. I am with Southern Electric on a a tariff called "Economy 7 No Standing Charge."
Why doesn't it show up? Are Southern electric allowed to pull it from switching sites because they know it is an expensive tariff or is it something to do with being economy 7?
It's very frustrating as without the correct unit rates, you are doing an accurate comparison. Is there anything I can do?
thanks

Just put in any E7 tariff as you current tariff and just use the actual cost column not the difference.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.

Only currently available tarifs are shown.
But E7 isn't a tariff as such, it's an option within a Standard tariff.
Any electricity tariff once selected should then give you an E7 or single rate sub-option.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Give your supplier a call and ask them the exact name of the tariff you are currently on.
SSE, in line with Ofgem guidelines and the majority of other suppliers, are withdrawing the majority of NSC tariffs.
A few NSC tariffs do remain, and these should still be shown on any accredited comparison site. Ignore the fact it is an E7 tariff at this stage, as that is a question asked later on all the comparison sites I am familiar with.0 -
Hi ! I have a similar problem.
My supplier is Scottish Power.
The tariff as shown on the bill is;
Online Standard - Monthly Direct Debit package
but I can't find this on the list.
Any help would be appreciated.

Energyhelpline has 'Online' or 'Online (no standing charge)' options.
Choose whichever is appropriate and then double check it is using the correct unit rates you are paying0 -
Hi ! I've cracked it !
I'm on STANDARD SC ONLINE
It was the SC and NSC that had me going.
Thanks for the replies, Geoff0
