told we cannot make any noise at a wedding

I wonder if anyone can help here. My friend booked a wedding venue on the basis that they could have a band playing (more than reasonable) for £800. The wedding is later in June.
The venue wrote to them a week ago telling them that they could not make any noise as they had had complaints from neighbours and the council. So 4 weeks before the wedding they were told they couldn't do what they signed up for. This has meant they are trying to look for an alternative venue!
I have suggested they at least ask for £300 back for the inconvenience etc..do I have a leg to stand on?

theyd better check that the hotel allows them to make some noise on the honeymoon!"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

heyooo, there it ishelpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
If you're having to find a new venue because you cannot have a band due to the noise then I don't see why you shouldn't get the WHOLE sum back. It's not unreasonable to expect a certain level of noise from a wedding venue, including a band, DJ or music of some sort.0

I see MothballsWallet is still on his thankathon"if the state cannot find within itself a place for those who peacefully refuse to worship at its temples, then it’s the state that’s become extreme".Revd Dr Giles Fraser on Radio 4 20170

check the terms of the licence of the venue.
Live bands might be allowed (for example) with windows shut, not playing after 11pm or whatever.
It would seem odd that no noise is allowed. If that was the case I would want the whole of the amount refunding. However this doesnt stack up fully.0 -

I actually like seeing someone on here that appreciates the majority of the posts. I'd rather see that than someone (not you) who gets on everyones case about their reason for venting/warning.
The amount of times I've seen first time posters disappear for being made unwelcome..
(oh..I have to qualify that? .. um.. lots)
Thanking posters encourages them to post again. If people stopped posting, the forum would be rubbish.
Disclaimer: Mothballs Wallet has previously thanked my posts.

I think the issue is that posters seeing a post as being thanked, assume that means the post holds some significance.
Not saying mothballs does it, but some people are click happy and Thank posts before they have established whether they are usefull, helpful and (most importantly) likely to be correct.
It's only really an issue in fora like this one, where advice rather than "first thing that comes into your head opinion" is being sought.0 -

whole sum back plus any additional costs incurred due to the need to move at short notice (subject of course to the duty to mitigate)0
