Chrome and IT identical

Not so much techie as an observation.

I have been using chrome for ages and have many favourites which drift off the favourites bar, so I have introduced eight folders ie Mine/incidental/TV/Travel/phone etc and have gathered the long thread of icons and placed them accordingly. Subsequently the page is so much tidier.

Because IE is also on my laptop, I have followed through the same procedure so now, it doesn't matter which browser I choose to open, they are identical.

On each of them I have Adblock plus, Evernote & Spellchecker although I will have to do something about the latter in IE as it tries to make me write in American (favorites).

My only issue I discovered when reorganising (not reorganizing) was that webcams wouldn't run on some sites ie Scillywebcam. I found that I needed to install something and now that too is fine.

So, why am I telling you this?. Well I just wondered if anyone out there has laid their system out in such a way and if so, did they notice of the two, which was superior.

and to a degree, I think you may be right. I used to use Firefox however something bugged me or it, as every time I moved from page to page a pop-up notice informed me that something like flashplayer needed attention and for the life of me, after weeks of trying to resolve it, I couldn't, so FF went totally.

I got fed up using browser favourites a long while back and wrote little system using php/mysql to produce and maintain my favourites so by setting that as my home page I can not only have the same set on any browser but on any PC too.

I put a subset of it on one of my websites less the maintenance links - http://www.digitalham.co.uk/links/

    OP here.

Findings thus far. Via IE. Whilst I really do like the favourites bar across the screen, there is something to be said to view them down the side (prefer left side) and wondered if I followed that idea through, if I could remove the across screen bar, thus making a slightly larger viewing area.

If you were to say "yes, it could/can be done", then would I be able to do the same in Chrome?.

In my original post, I asked if anyone had both IE and Chrome set up as I have done and someone posted Firefox, with no explanation whatsoever. I guess they were trying to imply that Firefox was even better, but failed to say anything about the browsers being discussed, which was odd.

One for Kwikbreaks - was it difficult to write that bit?
I'd be interested in something similar to store all my favourites and the option of being able to add/edit seems perfect.

Any chance of some help (I'm a complete novice in PHP as in never used it!!)
    I can use SQL though.

Give it a day or so and I'll add the source and post back here when it's done. I don't guarantee very pretty code but it does work for me.

    That'll do for me, cheers.
I know nothing about PHP, but I can do a fair job with SQL (which I believe is similar to MySQL) so I make a few tweaks.....;)

After all the time I have spent creating IE and Chrome to "look-alike", I have now installed Firefox and thankfully all previous issues have gone, so for the near future, I am giving it a try.

What I would like to do, is to remove the url which follows the icon as they're not neccessary. How easy is it to do?

Chrome allows you to delete the url
    IE requires you enter something
FF seems to show the whole url
