duplicate payments, how to get money refunded?

Yesterday I bought some shoes from a shop on ebay. Today when I checked my bank account I see that the amount I paid for the shoes has been debited twice.
However I am wondering if it is a problem with EBay or Paypal rather than the shop itself?
The shoes cost £50 and I had £1.50 in my PayPal account already, so what I actually paid was £48.50. It's the £48.50 that's showing up twice in my bank account as money coming out of the account.
Any idea how to resolve this and how to get the duplicate £48.50 back? The bank have said they will raise it as a dispute if the duplicate transaction goes through tomorrow, but I am not sure how reliable this is?

what does the seller say? I have had payments go through to me twice in the past - and refunded one of them...0

The seller seems ok, they have asked for the paypal transaction of the duplicate payment.
What puzzles me is that having checked my PayPal account there is no duplicate transaction there. Yet my bank is showing 2 duplicate amounts pending coming out of my account.
Very odd. I really don't want to pay twice!0 -
If it is only pending, one of them may get cancelled in up to a week's time0

Thanks. it's still showing up as pending on my bank account, meaning that money won't be available to me, which is a bit of a pain. (One of the payments has gone through, the duplicate one is pending still.)
I suppose it's just a case of waiting to see if the duplicate transaction drops off the account or goes through.
Paypal have said that if it goes through I can email them a copy of my bank statement and they'll look into it. I think the bank are also going to dispute the second payment for me if it goes through.
What a pain, though. I can't access that money as it's pending coming out of the account, and I can't do much about it till it either goes through or drops off the pending transactions.0 -
I'm pretty sure the duplicate one will just drop off - don't worry about it.
Its a nuisance but it should be sorted shortly :-)0
