Hi

My friend is here with her laptop which won't switch on. Its a Toshiba Satellite C650 and when I press the power button an orange light flashes about 5 times then stops.

I've tried removing the battery and is there anything else I can try?

The first thing to try is remove battery and power lead, hold poweronfor 20 seconds, then try with power lead only.

EDIt: my cheapo Toshiba died (motherboard) after exactly 3 years. How old is this one?
If its really dead and data has to be retrieved then you'll need a USB caddy to put the laptop drive into...

Then check the DC output from the mains adaptor with a multimeter.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
