Updating Bank Accounts from Portugal or not

Hi All,
Have retired and decided to spend some of my senior years in Portugal. Have had a British bank Account for over 50 years, however, it seems that I can’t update my Santander accounts, which I have had for over 30 years,as I am now resident in Europe.
Is this correct, and is the only way around this, is to get an additional address in Britain.
Seems we are not all one, in Europe?
Many thanks in anticipation, Roy

Sorry, Updating, as Esaver over a year old and very low return (0.5%). The latest Esaver is 3 times what I'm getting now. New'ish Currant Account with 3% interest if over 2 or 3 thousand deposited. Present currant account 0.1%. I need to update.0

Can Santander not just convert your existing account over to the 123 account?
Opening a new account can be trickier with some banks as they may require UK residency, so unless you have a UK address to use then this might be an issue.Sorry, Updating, as Esaver over a year old and very low return (0.5%). If you want to have current accounts (or buy currants) in the UK, you have to stay on top of what's happening with the current accounts (or currants) in the UK. Easy to do with the Internet.
You might not get accepted for an account if you aren't a resident, even if you are a resident in another EU country. Need to look at the T&Cs of the respective account in detail.0 -
Many thanks for the replies.
My mistake was to try to make it a little easier. So thatall communication was to our main address (Portugal, land of currants
), andthrough Internet Banking. As I stated in my initial question, guess we are notall one in Europe, unless it’s to get straight Bananas (old EU tale).
Will have to change our main address back to the one in UK,just to make it harder.
Again Many thanks, Roy0
