How long to wait to re-apply after rejection?

in Credit cards
I'm looking to get my first cc to build up some history. I was rejected for a rewards card and so having read a bit on this forum, I want to try and get a basic cc from my bank.
So the question is how do long should I wait to apply because I'm conscious of the recent search of my Experian file? I have good history with the bank (always in credit, don't overdraw and have savings with them).
Thanks

If this is your only recent credit application, and assuming the reward card was not also with your own bank then it should have very little impact and you probably don't need to wait to apply.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
