Confused about the whole PPI thing!

I took out a mortgage with Northern Rock in about 2002 and sold the house in 2006. I don't have any of the paperwork due to a couple of international moves since then. I seem to remember paying an extra fee in case I got made unemployed that I then later cancelled as I was secure in my job at the time. Is that PPI? And if so, how do I prove that I may have had it, and claim it back?

NR never retailed such a thing. They only did monthly premium. Not single premium. A broker may have. Did you use a broker or NR?And if so, how do I prove that I may have had it, and claim it back?
Proving you had it is one thing. Where you bought it from is another and finally, you have to identify what you believe was a wrongdoing. You cant just claim the money back. There has to be something wrong.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. Game over then. Brokers didnt become regulated for insurance until January 2005.but it was def the bank that I contacted to cancel the extra payment thing.
If you were paying monthly then you would contact the bank as they would stop the direct debit. They have no liability for the sale though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
