Blu Ray 3D is much better but it can be a pain to get it working sometimes. Even with top end kit and connectors you can occasionally get some films that refuse to play in 3D - all films work on my system other than The Hobbit which insists my system is not 3D compatible.

The Hobbit 3D plays great on my system (only annoying thing is having to switch disks half way through!)

Have you connected your Blu-Ray onto the internet or checked to see if their is a firmware update available? It might need an update to play the newer disks properly.

I made sure i got a LG 3D TV and LG 3D DVD player that cuts down on the number of remote's I have to keep track of!

Don't worry! I've a "backup" of the hobbit 3D on my Ubuntu Media server which does away with the disk issue. ^_~

Like others have already said, the novelty of 3D for me wore off within a couple of weeks, but the Smart TV features I use all the time (I keep all my video and music files on my NAS and stream these to the TV). I wouldn't buy a TV without these 'Smart' features now.

:) - now for the moral dillemma - my tv is fine at the moment - so do i sell it via the world of swaphop/ebay - or send it to the world of slowly ageing tvs - the shed lol

How about donating your TV to a charity for the homeless. I have donated lots of household stuff to a charity called Emmaus, they helps homeless people set up their new home. The screen size may be a problem but they may not have much else in their home. Much better than sending it to a recycling centre.

i wondered for a moment if they had made the silly mistake of putting the regular blu ray disc in the player instead of the 3d disc. seems stupid but i bet many have done it and thought great the 3d isnt working.

i believe as 3d tvs need extra processing power for the 3d that that ultimately means they are likely to have a better 2d picture compared to the equivalent none 3d tv. i know the 3d tv i have seen has the best 2d picture i have ever seen.

Nope, that's just coincidence. There's not really a lot of extra processing power needed actually. For ACTIVE 3D, it has to keep the screen precisely in sync with glasses, with passive it just mashes 2 images together. This is withing the processing capabilities of any big modern 3D or 3D screen.

TrickyDicky101 - for the benefit of forum users - what TV are you talking about, and what smart features?

When HD first came out I wondered the same thing. Is it worth shelling out extra for? I concluded no and still stand by that decision. In my case it helps that unlike most I find SD pictures perfectly adequate, with 3D however, there is a huge difference from non 3D and would be well worth the money if you can get hold of enough source 3D material.

I bought a 46 inch 8000 Samsung tv. Looks amazing. Picture is outstanding.

It is 3d but didn't buy it for that reason. Never used the feature.

The smart tv part is really good. I player, 4od and Netflix work great. Links to my Sony laptop and streams pics and videos to the tv wirelessly.

    Very pleased.
