are you talking about works in a commercial or domestic environment?With due respect, I do not think that is correct. We have just had quotes for some major works, and all of the quotes specifically mentioned VAT.
as I say above, as we know that the OP is bound by a JCT contract for a bit of commercial work then it is normal for contract sums to be ex VAT as VAT liability is explicit to the JCT contract. It would of course however be normal practice for the client to establish if they were dealing with a VAT registered potential contractor when inviting quotes so the client knows in advance if VAT will be an issue0 -
