John lewis dont believe the hype

Options
Ordered a washing machine over the phone on Monday afternoon for £500 asking for delivery weds 29/5/13 between 2pm and 9pm. Great I thought. Free iron, 2 year guarantee!

Took afternoon off work. 8.10pm no machine, ring them up- no you ordered it for next week on 5th June. Guarantee paper work and free iron turn up before the machine.

I need it before the weekend, already been without for over a week. John Lewis customer service: Tough! You will have to wait till next week, but we can offer you a 2 hour delivery slot.

2009 John Lewis deliver dining room chairs 250 miles north of London after I decide I have to have them! 2013 John Lewis don't care I've spent 7 hours of my life I'll never get back.

Lesson learnt, must pick more carefully about ordering items I need yesterday, in the mean time I guess I'll be buying febreze to freshen up my clothes before ironing them! (Oh and I hate laundrettes.)

Rant over!

If there is no delivery slots they cannot deliver it before then, obviously its not good they made the mistake in the first place but its probably why there was nothing that could be done to make the the delivery sooner. However its probably worth complaining again as you would probably get some goodwill especially if you are adamant that you ordered for the day you did - just ask them to locate the call records (as they are kept for a year) and listen back.

Mistakes happen, and in the meantime perhaps a friend or family member can do a load for you?

Whilst not perfect, I do find John Lewis on the whole to be very reliable and service orientated.

I use to find John Lewis quite good but find they are becoming more and more unreliable. I have ordered from appliances online instead who can deliver on Friday so fingers crossed, don't really want to inconvenience any friends or family.

They have promised to look back on the phone records but don't see the point to be honest. Toyota tried to cancel my car insurance once as they said I lied to them when taking out the policy, they looked back, I told the truth and they got it wrong, didn't even get an apology just told that member of staff had left the business so nothing they could do! Mistakes happen, but these days others are all to happy for the business.

If you complain enough with jl you are likely to get a goodwill refund as most customers feel happy enough with that, it depends really if thats what you are after or not.
