Double Charge for ASDA online shop--has anyone else experienced this?

As flagged up in this Which blog article in January, many online ASDA shoppers have been caught out by double charges for their online shop. Apparently when the initial order is placed, the funds are "ringfenced" in the account to ensure enough funds are available to cover the purchase. Then when the shopping is actually rung up on the day (possibly with a slightly different amount due to substitutions or stock issues) the new amount is charged to the account as well. However, the "ringfenced" funds may not bounce back to the shopper's bank account for up to 15 days.
It's all fine if you have plenty of breathing space in your account, but if your short of money and close to payday, you may well find yourself paying unexpected overdraft charges as a result.
The problem was supposed to be sorted by now, but several Mumsnet threads indicate that it's still going on, all too often.
Has anybody on MSE experienced this, and did you have any luck in having charges refunded?

It's been going on for years, I got caught out a few years ago, it's the reason I would never shop online with them ever again.
Their in store system isn't much better, I had a transaction in March that took 3 weeks to go through my account, OH it still waiting for a transaction from 2nd May to go through, it's just pants. From now on I'll only shop there if I get the cash out first.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0 -

Yes. I placed an order on Tuesday which was £71.00. They 'earmarked' £71.01 on my credit card straight away. However when the shopping arrived it was only £67.30.
The amount still hasn't been debited yet, so I can only hope they only debit £67.30, as its still showing the £71.01 as being earmarked. I'm also hoping that one the debit actually comes out the earmarked funds are released!''Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by a$$holes.'' :whistle:0
