Home broadband - massive termination fee

Charles, you seem to be lumping together the Early termination Charge and the purchase of the box.
Yes, I am lumping these together, and we did receive a set top box for free. It does seem perfectly fair to me that we should reimburse them for the cost of the box.
But the purchase of the box is a charge that we have to pay when we terminate the contract and only if we terminate before the minimum term: if that doesn't count as an early termination charge, then what does? So personally I think it's right to lump them together, but maybe I'm wrong about that. Why did your GF sign up to an 18 month contract if you were thinking of moving in together??
Well, yes, this is a good question. Basically we were going through a rough patch and she can be a bit impulsive sometimes.
I can't be too annoyed, though, because I think that I could have been a lot smarter about this too.Look at the cancellation policy in terms of moving out.
Some companies have different cancellations policies.
one for just a straight forward cancellation, and the other for homemoves.
Thanks, I'll take a look at this.0 -
What would be the cost of terminating YOUR contract?
Yeah, that's probably the best option, really. I'd need to check on the cost. That would make me a bit sad, though, because the internet is *way* faster with my provider (Virgin). I'm willing to pay for that convenience, but I was hoping it wouldn't be so much!0 -
Would it be possible to home-move her TT contract and take the fibre boost? (Assuming FTTC is available at your property).0
