Tenant credit checks - problem....

Options
Dear All,

I was hoping someone might be able to help. I was made bankrupt 6 years ago (2007). I am now looking to rent with my wife and our 16 month old daughter but I am concerned about the tenant credit check. I have checked my credit file and there are no court records or defaults but I am concerned that they will find out somewhere else. Do you think it is likely that I will pass the credit checks?

Cheers,

Lowely.

    I had this problem too.

I was upfront with them as soon as they suggested a credit check. I also said we would be prepared to use a guarantor for our rent, which we did use. This worked and we have been at the same place for over 3 years. No guarantor is needed now. :-)

    Hi Andy,

    Cheers for the info.

The things is, I know the bankruptcy is not on my credit files so would it be OK? I don't have access to a guarantor unfortunately....

    Cheers,

    I don't know.

Maybe you should get a credit report and maybe also ask Citizens Advice. (or maybe someone here can answer better)
