21st Birthday Party

Hi there

It's my 21st next May and i've already booked the place where i'm going to have it! (early i know)

But just wondered when is it best to start getting things ready for it?

I'm going to buy the balloons off Ebay but not sure when to get them - now or wait for a bit nearer?

Also sending out invites? i'm obviously not going to send them out now as people will forget by the time next may comes but when is the best time to send them? I've heard 6 months,4 months and 3 months. I'll have people comming from quite a distance so is it best to tell them earlier so they can plan hotels ect?

Any other suggestions for timelines ect would be very grateful

thanks for your help

My 21st was organised almost at the last minute. We booked the place then got all the decorations and that off the market the preceding week.

I sent invites out about 2 months before. But the details and venue kept changing so I kept lumbering people with emails. One piece of advice I'd give you is try and get the details finalised before sending out emails.

There'd be no harm in getting balloons and that in early, unless there's a predicted balloon market price crash looming which, to the best of my knowledge, there isn't.

Getting prepared early would mean that there wouldn't be a last minute panic.

    Have a great party :)

I've got an 18th party for my daughter coming up in August but I've started getting bits and pieces in now.
Like Richy said getting the likes of balloons, party plates, napkins, banners etc in now or something every other week will mean there's not a last minute rush and you can afford to shop around and weigh up prices etc.
You could give people an estimated date so they are aware that your party will be taking place in May and tell them that you will confirm it nearer the time in the form of invitations.
I've told people about the party in August but haven't actually confirmed a date yet.
Everything else like the food, cake, music etc can be sorted out 2 to 3 months beforehand.
Hope it goes great for you :)
