Car insurance no claims discount help

Hi,
Picking up a car tomorrow for my wife (2nd family car)

Insured it in advance, with 10 years no claims, after doing this provider asked for proof of no claims

Ive switched insurance several times in the 10 years so to try and remember past the last insurer is tricky.

Anyway, after looking around the net for help I've now got the following questions:-

1. My 10 years no claims has been built through 5 different cars and several insurers, does this still count given that it is a 'new' car, i.e should i be putting 0 years no claims as it is the first time being insured on this car?

2. Are no years claims built against an individual or the car being insured

If your NCD is in use on a car, it can't be used on a second car.

The second car would have 0 years but you'll maybe get an introductory NCD from your current insurer.

Agree. If the original NCD is being used on the first car, you can't use it on a second car. Simples.

A broker might be able to find a company who will match the NCD or offer a generous introductory NCD in these circumstances, though.
