How much should I be paying for gas in a 2 bedroom flat?

  • I live in a 2 bedroom upstairs flat
  • I live with my partner & 1 young child
  • We are out at work all day during the week
  • I have a combination boiler & so water is only heated when it is used
  • The gas is only used for central heating (which is only on first thing in a morning and in an evening) and for heating water for washing up (once a day), washing & showers (no baths)
  • I live above a fireplace shop, so the flat is fairly warm when they've had the fires going. This means I don't usually need the heating on during the day at weekends
How much should I be paying for gas per quarter? At the moment I am being billed anywhere between £350 and £400 a quarter with my current supplier. Is this too much?

When paying quarterly on receipt of bill, you will be charged based on the consumption recorded by your meter ... or estimated by the supplier in the event they did not obtain a meter reading.

If an estimated meter reading has been used, check this against what the meter actually says.
