Why are some photo's small in Picasa ?

I've had some photo's sent to me via email, I click on them to download and they open in Windows Photo Gallery full size. If I rt click and move them via "send to..........." then select Pictures and find the appropriate folder in Picasa, they end up there.

They look no different from any of the others as they present themselves in the folder, but when I click on any of those which have come via email, the photo appears tiny. If I use the scroll bar to magnify them, they become out of focus.

The thing is, not all photo's arriving via email are like this, so should we now be thinking jpg types ?

Thanks for suggestion, just tried it and it made no difference. So put the setting back to 480

It may be that by using 'Send To' you are only saving the tiny thumbnails images. Try viewing them at full size and then right click and select 'Save Picture As ...'

Think I have made some sort of progress which might help you to help me.

In picasa, I selected and highlighted a photo that appears perfect, in as much as it opens to a full size. With it selected, I clicked on email and sent it to my email address.

When the email arrived, I clicked and downloaded it, it opened up in Windows Photo Gallery full size which I then cleared. I right clicked the email photo and hit on "save to"........I then clicked on Pictures, identified a trial folder to send it to and sent it.

Once there, I scrolled through the preceding few which were normal size but once on the pic I'd sent myself, it too was tiny.

So, where do we go from here?

Progress!, to begin with, with the photo large in Windows Photo Gallery, there isn't an option to send to when rt clicking.

Yes, I am sure you're right about sending thumbnails and receiving thumbnails in Picasa. Coincidently I have the same result whether I use my regular, chrome or IE.

I've had some more photo's sent to me via email, and the same thing happens, small in picasa.

So, back to IE, I click on a pic and rt click and send to, result small pic BUT, if I click on the same pic, then click on download, a narrow strip appears along the bottom. It say's, "do you want to open or save etc. I click on Save and a downward arrow, this gives three options, one of which is save as, I highlight this, and send it to the designated folder and it is the CORRECT SIZE.

Within this folder I now have identical photo's, some tiny some large. It would appear then I have to ensure the correct route is followed each time. Not only that, any photo's sent through email, must be dealt with in IE. I am sure that in the fullness of time, we will resolve this through chrome, maybe now I've explained all this, it might dawn on you how it can be done.
