We are in the process of trying to buy our council property. We have just received a valuation on the property and how much of a discount we will get. I've been told by a friend that I can get additional discounts, up to 75%, if there are any structural defects. Does anyone know about this and how would I go about doing this? Do I now need to get a conveyance solicitor and surveyor? There is a crack up one wall, across the ceiling and down another wall of the toilet, the DPC has been breached, the air bricks have been blocked by pebble dashing and pain, we have damp problems in both bedrooms and, I've been told by a gas safety engineer that my boiler is due for replacement. Would these be good causes for an additional discount?
