When discussing a full-time role with an agency recently I was told that "the salary is £x per annum pro-rata".

When I asked pro-rata of what and to what I got into an utterly bizarre conversation where the woman clearly had absolutely no idea what pro-rata meant but systematically used it whenever quoting any salary rate.

Like I needed any further reason to despair of the recruitment industry.... :o
it would only say pro rata if the job was not a full time one

like £30k for 5 days a week would be say for a 4 day a week job in the same firm £30k pro rata. Just like the holiday would be.

    Pro rata means in proportion

Congratulations. You could get a job as a recruitment agent and be light years ahead of the woman I was speaking to.

Most agencies just quote that which the employer has said and not too sure about most things.

Never in my 45 years have I seen anything like the advert described in the OP.

Jobs are advertised as FT (35/37.5/40 hrs per week as per the normal company terms) or PT.

A completely normal and logical and non discriminatory way to advertise a PT post.
