Car insurance after claim advise please.

Options
My car was stolen and although found by the coppers very quickly the thieves had smashed it up. It has taken the useless insurance company 10 weeks to decide it is a write-off, during which time I have had no car. Now they are hopefully going to pay up and I need a new car.

The insurance I have on the car runs until August. This might seem a stupid question, but once I have got the cheque from them is there anything left on the old insurance for me to transfer to the new car or do I have to start with a whole new insurance for the next car.

I hope this makes sense. Thanks.

Some policies do end after a total loss. Check your policy to see what happens.

If it carries on then make sure any replacement is acceptable to them before you buy it.
