Slight spoiler alert.
The gingery/red haired police officer. The one who had to clean out Gillian Anderson's hotel room.
Some dodgy acting when she was explaining the evidence she found to Anderson and how she could be counted upon. She makes me cringed, but it quickly passes There’s a lot of good acting in it too.
I thought she was dreadful in the first episode especially when visiting the girl whose house had been broken into.
Slightly improved in later episodes but nowhere near as good as the other NI actors.
But I'll try not to let one small annoyance to spoil my enjoyment.:cool:0 -
Niamh McGrady is not one of my favourite actresses.0

I thought it was worth watching for Ben Peel (James Olsen) but then he got killed off0

I may try this one but in general stay away from any British/Irish TV as its normally shockingly bad. Btw How anyone can say the bbc produces better program's than hbo etc now is just nonsense.0

Dornan is really good in it. A lot of the others are just a bit "lovie" i.e.. they try a bit too hard and sound like they're acting.. Lynch is one of the worst actually, despite his credentials and experience... and the kids are awful. Laura Donnelly was good too actually. A good effort on the whole though.0

It's a moot point I'll give you that but I much prefer BBC/ITV productions and that of other homegrown companies than I would those by HBO. Hard to put the finger on why because I'm no expert but I would say, for a start, more gritty realism.0 -

I'm quite a fan of HBO shows & the like but I know what you mean. As an example, I would take Silent Witness over CSI any day but I'm struggling now to make other analogies! Watched the 1st part of The Fall last night and the only bits I cringed at were the WPC and the kids but the kids I can excuse.0 -

You're quite right. It's each to his own. In general I don't like American programming because I think it lacks realism and I don't like fantasy such as Game of Thrones. Occasionally they do make something which I can watch such as the excellent cover of "The Killing" which I thought was very watchable. I'm generally the same with movies which are US made. I don't like most of them but on the odd occasion they come up with gems like "The Green Mile".0 -
