    Samsung created the issue?

Surely whoever did the dodgy earlier repair created the issue?

Yes of course ask Samsung for the return of the thing.

No, the whole problem is the software won't update. This has been confirmed by Google, was an issue with Samsung's repair process in the past.

The dodgy repair has nothing to do with the problem.

    From that link you quoted:
Just as an FYI, I did some digging earlier today and read that if it has been for a refurb, sometimes the repairer can leave it in a "locked" state which might cause this issue.

Now, who knows who is right?
You say Samsung caused the issue, and one guy on another forum says that a previous repair is to blame.

    Who do we believe?

    That's a rhetorical question.
We have no need for an answer because there is no-one that owes you a remedy.

The previous repair referred to there, is the previous repair by Samsung. The unauthorised repairs has only come to light to all parties a few days ago

    If you scroll down:
The pink screen means that it didn't complete the factory flow. It should be RMA'ed with correct RMA flow. Samsung should know how to handle it.

Maybe, but it really doesn't matter.

The warranty has expired, so Samsung simply do not have to do anything.

The person who sold it to you has no responsibility to you.

I fear you are on your own with this, and you know that.

I only got to the part,"second hand off Ebay" you have no rights with anyone except the seller, even then outdated software is no reason to complain.

Outdated software isn't the issue. It's that a repair process by Samsung in the past was not completed correctly, therefore the software cannot be updated and the software is effectively stuck.

But you bought it 3 months ago, are you saying it has never worked, in that case sue the seller.

If it did work then the seller has sold you a working product and you have no recourse against them. It seems you have started having problems trying to update to a software version not suitable for your device, bricking it in the process.

Regardless of the problem, Samsung have no liability to you.
