I think I've made it perfectly clear that I'm trying to find a legalI've just spoken to a couple of estate agents and they say it isn't uncommon for the seller to pay some or all of the stamp (legitimately), that they see it happen and in some cases see the seller promote it.. and that mortgages still do go through.
So why do most posts here suggest it isn't possible?
Because until fairly recently there were a number of mortgage lenders which allowed vendor gifted deposits. Now there's none. Most estate agents are ignorant of this fact.0 -
So now I "get it", I have one other question.
Why/how are people out there doing this? It doesn't sound like they are doing it illegally.
Why do people do this?
1. It makes very little difference to anyone, so why not.
2. It can make it look like you're giving the buyer a good deal.0
