DC Cook - no PPI no car finance

Hello,

I wonder if anybody may be able to advise who I need to contact regarding PPI that was sold by DC Cook (who I believe went bump). It was in 1995 and I believe reading some threads that PPI reclaim is not time barred - we were told at the time that if we didn't take out the PPI we could not have the finance for the car, unfortuantely we were too naive at the time and went ahead with it.

Thanks in advance

Car dealers became regulated in January 2005. So, 1995 is 10 years before regulation. You only get access to the FSCS (who would take on the complaint for firms that no longer exist) if you purchased the product post regulation.

So, it is game over for you.

No, the usual limitation periods apply, and 1995 would be pre-regulation I believe.

Like most car dealers DC Cook would have used a number of different finance companies. Have you got any old bank statements as these will show who the finance payments went to. It's not the finance company you would normally complain to as they did not sell you PPI - DC Cook sold you PPI.
In addition many Car Dealers sold stand alone PPI separately from the finance and didn't use the finance house PPI

When exactly. If it was after January 2005 then the car dealer would be authorised and regulated. Indeed, there is one entity on the FCA register under David Cook Motors who became regulated in Jan 2005 and is still authorised now.

If that is your car dealer then you complain to the car dealer.
