Can I beat this rate?

I have an instant access savings account with what is now Virgin Money (I opened it just before the Northern Rock brand was consigned to history)
It's used as a household emergency fund so I need to be able to get instant access to the funds by transfer should I need to (for example I'm going to need to dip into them to get some trees cut back behind the house shortly)
The account currently has circa 700 quid in it and I put in about 30 quid per month, it offers no penalty withdrawals and pays a rate of 1.90% net.
Anyone aware of any better deals with banks covered by the FSCS which don't require signing up for a current account or require a min pay in each month?

for an instant access account that rate is fine . I doubt you will find better elsewhere. Unless you switch to one of the current accounts that pays higher I.E santander etc see link below note conditions apply.

For those amounts you might not get a better interest rate.
If you did move banks and can pay in £750 per month then you'd get £60 per year at Halifax which on £700 would be nearly 10% interest. Far better for small amounts than trying to mess around for best account with 1% or 2% but it would mean the hassle of opening an account.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
Think I'll leave things as they are.Interests: PCs. servers, networks, mobiles and music (esp. trance)0
