Does anyone know how to get a copy of a marriage certificate for someone who got married abroad (without asking that person). I have looked on the council website but can't get marriage certificate if someone got married outside of the county. Any ideas?
Thanks

A lot may depend if they registered it in this country. If you marry abroad it does not need to be reg. here so I would assume nobody would know if you have or havent0

Why would you need a copy of someone else's marriage certificate?0

the marriage would have to have been deposited in the UK for there to be a copy of the marriage certificate to be issued in the UK, if the couple got married abroad.
There is no obligation to deposit your marriage in the UK if you marry abroad - I got married abroad and have not deposited my marriage in the UK.0 -
If you know where they were married then you could start by asking the people that carried out the ceremony and if it was registered then they should be able to tell you where.0

Most countries have online archives for marriage/birth/death certificates. Whether there's is on one or not is anyone's guess.
Going to be nosey....why can't you ask the person/people who got married?0 -
Depends on the country some will only issue it to close family-be easier to ask the couple-unless they wouldn't want you to have it......I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

Obviously the OP isn't going to answer those who asked why she wanted it...so we can all make up our own reasons why
