managing emails on an LG Optimus 4X HD

Thought I'd post on here rather than the mobile forum as its more of a techie question.
I have just taken delivery of my new LG Optimus 4X HD and set up my email app to read emails from both my Yahoo and Hotmail accounts, however....
It is showing all my emails including them from my junk and spam mailboxes as well as those from my inboxes. How can I get it to just show those from my inboxes? I have had other smartphones and not had this problem. It has always just automatically only shown my inbox emails.
Any suggestions gratefully recieved. Thanks.
