    Yummy sauce recipes, thanks JellyB

On the subject of food does anyone have any good tips for leftover rice? I always seem to have a fair bit left and I know it's dodgy to keep for long.....any suggestions?

Oh and today was definitely spendy, think I should loose 2 NSd for penance on the amount I spent:eek:

Did remember to tax the car, but that was budgeted anyway, first time in a long time I actually had the money to pay for it:o

It's a low figure for this month but I do it by sticking to my budgets for food and petrol and then limiting the days I spend on anything that is not budgeted for. Plus I don't have many pennies left to buy anything else right now!

A few basic guidelines, to avoid Bacillus cereus contamination:
    - store any leftover rice in the fridge
    - put it in the fridge as soon as possible, certainly less than 4 hours after cooking; you can cool it quickly putting it in a colander and running it under the cold tap
    - eat within three days (some authorities say five)
    - or freeze it, of course; again, as soon as possible after cooking

As for recipe suggestions, how about some tempting puds from Nigel Slater
    http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2012/sep/02/nigel-slater-arancini-frozen-cherry-rice-recipes
or a dozen sweet 'n' savoury recipe ideas here

or a whole host of recipes here

Or you can add it soups and stews, as a bulking agent.

Quick stop in for me, how on earth it is 21.38 already I don't know.

Anyway, how about making home made egg fried rice, simply beat an egg, whip it round in frying pan (with oil) until it's a bit like scrambled egg, take it out then fry the rice in the same pan, add the egg back in - mix it all round a bit and bob's your uncle - home made egg fried rice.

Jelly - thanks so much for sharing your recipes - haven't had a chance to note them down in detail but can't wait to try them.

Nargle - my last showcase routine was to Time Warp for Halloween :D
