    I may be wrong but if you ask is an employer required to provide a written explanation of why you were dismissed? It may be worth trying?

    Employees need to have been employed for at least one year in order for the employer to be required to provide written reason. (Or for a fixed term contract not to be renewed rather than terminated early.)

    Were you interviewed by the employer before you started with them or were you simply sent in by the agency?

    Would the agency be covering for their client? (Something of a conspiracy theory, I know.)

    I had 2 interviews with the company.

    Also, the recruiter told me that my new manager was her best friend.

    I'm not a business owner, but I can't blame them really. You've only just started working there, so they have no loyalty to you, and if you're going to cost them time and money, it makes sense for them to find someone else who won't cost them money in time off, and less likely to have things worrying them which will interfere with productivity etc. Essentially, they probably felt like they would be taking on an admin case.

    I know this sounds harsh, but I'm just saying how they probably saw it.

    Unfortunately if this is the case - and you know that is what they will say, whatever the real reason, be it this, or even the fact that they didnt like your shoes - they they haven't done anything unlawful.

    I wouldn't bother trying to prove that they got rid of you because of your mother's illness, it will be impossible to prove, save your energies for your mother and getting a new job.

    Pragmatic advice. Do you really have the energy to support your mum and take on this fight and look for another job? It will be your word against theirs at the hearing (unless they bail out and settle before). Don't forget you have a 3 month time limit.

    I've just spoke to a solicitor this morning, and they say I've got a case. There are additional details that I haven't included on the forum that have added weight to my claim. Going to think over what to do for a couple of days before taking action.
