PPI ignorance

Hi Martin and everyone
My wife and I have recently tried to claim back a reasonably large PPI sum which was paid on a loan of around £2500 from Nationwide. We have cancelled our account so the local branch wont help us.
All went well until I discovered an anomaly in Nationwide's figures which didn't add up.
They claim to have deducted £750 for a previously paid amount and have a cheque number to which they referred and insisted they would not repay this amount. Accept within 28 days or loose.
We asked for evidence by registered post and after three months of patience and no response we did the same again.
We asked for evidence of an account or name of who actually cashed this cheque. We of course have not received any such cheque.
They have ignored us since then and we still after over a year have not received a response or any money!
Can you help anyone
If they wont answer what do we do?
Paul

You have 6 months from the response of the complaint to refer it to the financial ombudsman. That time has now passed. So, you need to go back to Nationwide and ask them again. Put it in writing and explain how you asked before but never appeared to have an answer. I suspect their last answer was their final one.
