windows mail on windows 8

I have recently bought new laptop which had windows 8. I use windows mail, or live mail (not sure which one is actually on it) and wanted to change the layout to what I was used to on old laptop with vista.

Is it possible to change the layout at all?

Vista used Windows Mail, W8 uses Windows Live Mail.
What do you actually want to change in the layout?
Personally I'd use neither and install Thunderbird though.

+1 vote for Thunderbird. The recent Windows Mail (free) programs are not nice at all.

I used windows live mail on old laptop and just liked the way i didn't have to have big reading pane unless opened email and that i could have just list of emails not opened rather than all of them. Its that sort of thing I want to change and how do I get my list of contacts on it? Thanks
