I wondered if anyone had any ideas of a short break in the UK for a woman on her own?
I have thought of a spa break but they look really expensive.
I would like to go for 3 or 4 nights and would like to only spend around £300.
I like reading but haven't found any reading type hols.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

There is a Jane Austen festival in September in Bath if that might interest you. You could look to book transport, accomodation etc yourself. You could visit the Jane Austen centre and take tea there. You also have the nearby Roman baths.

we don't know where you are and how far you'd want to travel...there's a 10 day book festival in Wigtown in SW Scotland http://www.wigtown-booktown.co.uk/, lovely scenery and good authors attending.
Or how about a holiday including the huge secondhand book shop in Alnwick? Again, scenery, beaches, gardens etc.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -
Hi, what about a coach trip? The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0

Woodbrooke in Birmingham has lots of different short residential courses and retreats. Don't be put off by the fact that it is a Quaker study centre, as their courses cover a wide range of interests and topics and are open to the general public.

Also, if you google retreats 2013, or workshops 2013, you might just find something that interests you.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
I'd suggest a city break of some kind - there's plenty to see and do in York, Chester, Lincoln, Bath, Manchester, London, Liverpool etc....0

What about something like this, http://www.majestictours.co.uk/about_majestic.htm its a coach holiday 3 or 4 days they also do self drive if you want I did self drive and still got on bus for the days out they do. I went to Weymouth, enjoyed, and apparently Torquay is good, lots of people go on their own to and everyone mingles and talks to you.The solving of a problem lies in finding the solvers.0

or something like a National Trust working holiday? I did a few of those in the past and had a great time.0
