The couple that offered on our house then went elsewhere have had to pull out on the purchase as they couldn't get a mortgage... Glad they pulled out on us now as I would have been really peeved

its good when something that seems a nuisance at the time turns out to be good luck
how did you find out, small community where you are?0 -
DUH!:wall:
Just who are these people who look at houses without having the money to hand or at least a mortgage approved in principle?
I've had my EA on the phone today saying that one of my potential viewers hasn't even got a mortgage AIP and his opinion of him was quite clear:rotfl:
Isnt it blimmin' obvious that you get a mortgage lined-up first (if you need one) before going round looking at houses?
You had a lucky escape there indeed.:D0 -
Good karma.
But re the AIP, these are often given then the mortgage is not approved for whatever reason.0 -

Someone we know went for same house and had a phone call today to see if they are still interested...so yes it is and it can be a good or a bad thing :rotfl:Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0 -
Could this not just be estate agent talk for a bad survey or an undervaluation? Do you know if they ever had a survey? One that I attempted to buy fell through due to a survey so bad the mortgage company wouldn't even lend.0

It might be for another reason but that one is funnier to me :rotfl:Have a Bsc Hons open degree from the Open University 2015 :j:D:eek::T0

When I was an EA people were SO rude when you asked to see an AIP or told them to go to a mortgage bod - attached to the company or not.
One company I worked for didn't show unless they had a mortgage - the grief we'd get! Yet still lost sales when AIPs not confirmed at the crucial moment!
I can't believe people look without any idea what they can spend!NOT a NEWBIE!
