House insurance renewal quadrupled?! Flood risk but none around here...

Last year, our house insurance renewal quadrupled as the insurance company had decided that we were in a flood area even though we're not.
We went elsewhere last year but letter just came regarding our renewal saying they can't insure us as we're in a flood area!
We've been in our home for about 18 years and nowhere near us has flooded. (When I say 'near us', nowhere within an at least 5 mile radius)
I just rung the environment agency who agreed with me! The closest river to us is less than a quarter of a mile away BUT , the bridge is on the same level as us....the river is about 60-80 feet DOWN!
They're obviously looking at it geographically as its close but, come on!?!
Anyone else had this happen?

Try Aviva, they have their own map of the UK which was carried out by a plance flying over with a radar. The data gives them the height of each house so they can determine whether your house is likely to flood.
They will often quote when others don't0
