Hi,
I have always wondered how you find out the best exchange rate when you go away. I need to change my money into euros - does anyone know how I can find out whom is offering the best rate for this? I normally do it at Thomas Cook - not sure how they compare?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Many thanks

I would like to know too. I'm thinking anywhere with 0% commission is a good start.0

It seems that not much information is available on line apart from the Post Office and Travelex. The PO used to be competetive but M&S is now better. Travelex is better still if you pre-order and collect at the airport.Scrum down.0

Hello, Well if you're a frequent traveller there is nothing better than a Nationwide flex account, you get a debit card that you can use anywhere in the world without paying exchange charges, they also give you a good exchange rate. I spend a lot of time in mainland europe and now money exchange is so easy, I just use the cash machines as if I was in the UK. I used it in Colombia too and its true-no charges!!0

SagaTravel Money, HSBC, Marks and Spencers, compare first, they vary.

Follow Martin's advice and use a Nationwide Debit card to withdraw cash at an overseas ATM.
Nationwide may not give you a debit card account but their Nationwide Cash card can be used to equal effect.
When using a Nationwide debit or cash card you get the the interbank exchange rate (the best rate you can possibly get) with no fees or other charges added on. The ATM you use may charge you to withdraw but Nationwide will not!
You can also use a Nationwide credit card for purchases at the interbank rate - but don't use it for ATM withdrawals!0 -

If you believe that, you are probably throwing money away!0 -
So if I open a current account with Nationwide and put my holiday spends in there (I can use it for other things afterwards) then there are no charges??! That's easy! :J

Why?
If you are paying someone commission then that is money down the drain!0 -
My guide to getting cashback from travelex can get you up to an extra 2% on their very competetive online rate0

OK here is an question for you.
Would you rather change £100 at €1.46 at 2% commission,
or
change £100 at €1.39 with no commission?Don't lie, thieve, cheat or steal. The Government do not like the competition.

I'm sorry, I don't apologise. That's just the way I am. Homer (Simpson)0
