Anyone using a Maxi Cosi Cabriofix and Familyfix base car seat combo?

Hi All,
I am using a Maxi Cos Cabriofix car seat and the Isofix Familyfix base for the car. One thing i have noticed is the amount of room it takes! We have a Qashqai +2 and the passenger seat has to be moved so far forward to accomodate the seat it makes it uncomfy.
Is anyone else having this problem? or is this normal with kids (0) rear facing car seats?
Thanks

I think it's normal - they do take up a lot of room in the back of the car.:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

I too have the familyfix plus cabriofix. I did have to move the front passenger seat forward quite a lot, but there's still enough room for even my 38 inch inner legged husband (Mercedes C200).
I doubt the maxi cosi combo is any different to most rear facing carseats using an isofix base, tbh.
It's the base that needs the room. When I fix the seat using just the seatbelt in my car (too old for isofix points), it takes up far less room."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0 -
We have the FamilyFix + Pebble seat (similar to what you have) combo in the new shape Micra. it more or less results in the loss of the front passenger seat as it would not be really safe to use.
Again, like you suggest its similar in our Almera using a belt only (no ISOFIX), seat does have to be pushed forward a bit but not by much.
Have you tried your car seat in the Qashqai with JUST the belt to see if there is a difference? Don't forget that when using the ISOFIX base, the baby seat sits higher in the cabin, and with the recline of the front passenger seat could result in interface.
I did find in the new shape Micra though that the seat belt is not long enough to go around the seat, thus this base is required. Not sure if you will find the same in the Qashqai being one of the newer generation Nissan's0 -
I've got a qashqai and haven't tried the base and seat yet, but I did use it in an Audi A2, Vauxhall Astra and even a Renault Twingo and all were fine!
Perhaps it's because I am very short so have my seat quite far forward and always had the car seat behind me.14th October 201020th October 20113rd December 20130 -
We had that combo for our son and his twin sisters.
In our estate, the base had to go behind the passenger seat because it doesn't fit if I put the drivers seat in the proper place for me to drive it.
In our Alhambra, it fits without a problem and we can (almost) put the seats wherever we want.
It's very car dependent and the seat position/incline will affect this a lot.0
