Scottish Power broke my heating

Hi everyone

about a year and a half ago I had fault on my mechanical timer. the fault was a broken switch and not a major issue. the home comforts team sent out an engineer who replaced the time with a digital timer. This digital timer has never worked since. i have reported it numerous times and more than a dozen engineers have been out and failed to repair it. the symptoms now are i can not control my heating using the timer. when the timer says the heating is off the house is still baking.

This morning I confronted the complaints department urging them to fix it because I have a 5 month old little boy who is suffering with the heat at night. I was shocked to her that the women I spoke to told me that they are going to have 1 last bash at fixing it then their going to give up and leave it. this means that i will have to start paying for private engineers to come out and fix it out of my own pocket for there mistake.

Their justification for this is its a wiring fault that was their all along. but my original timer worked fine before the switch broke.

Has anyone got any suggestions on home I can resolve this matter

thanks

Phil

But you can still control the heating using the TRV's or rad valves until they fix it...

Im coping with the heating issue is the repairing that have a problem with. Scottish power have broken something in my house and today sad they are going to hve one last attempt at repairing it and if they don't succeed then there just going to leave it as it is. thats what I have my problem with.

I find it hard to believe that after 12 visits (?!) they have not simply changed the programmer. It is a relatively cheap item, and the cost of those visits would be vastly higher than a replacement.
I don't see how they have 'broken' anything; they have simply failed to repair an existing fault. If your original timer 'worked fine' then why did you call them out to fix it?
Why not cancel this unnecessary policy, and use the savings to get in an RGI who knows what they are doing? Wiring such a programmer should be no more than a 30 minute job.
