My first ever mortgage was with them and I ended up being with them for 8 odd years with various deals.

Generally tend to be competitive for fixed rates - admin ok - not a problem to deal with as a customer and seem to have been fine on 90% + on the customers I have put with them.

Not a lender I have any problems with - deals are portable so should not come up against the same problem hendec had (unless you borrow less from them when you move or don't complete the new mortgage within the period they specify).
I am an IFA (and boss o' t'swings idst)

  • Thank you all for your comments. Since posting this we have decided to go ahead with a mortgage with the Chelsea. We are on a 3 year fixed and if we move house we can take the mortgage with us at no fee. We can also make extra payments off the mortgage upto £200.00.

Mortgage offer received promptly. I would recommend.

    Thanks all and best wishes.
Still in debt but with a positive attitude and enjoying watching it decrease each month.

We took a “cash back” with them 5 years ago this ends in march of next year.
We have been tied in with them for all that time missed all the great offers that were around were we could have saved more by getting a low rate. We only got 4500 “cash back” off them and thank god we did not spend any of
It so it did earn some interest.
Our mortgage now stands at 18,000 as from today. We have been over paying just to get shot of it and we are on course to repay this in March when the cash back ends. I also have a large amount of savings with them and over the last year or so I have had some dodgy letters from what look like boiler room types wanting me to buy shares in off shore companies. I am not saying this information about my savings
has been leaked to them by the Chelsea but how would these dodgy companies know I have savings the only other person who knows is hubby
even my daughter does not know.

rate is 6.8% fixed for 5 yrs - we were going to get a personal loan after completion to do some work the loan would work out £60 a month more than the mortgage with chelsea with the cashback. so going for the cashback.

Looks ike good timing its now 7.59% until 1 October 2012.
